SCCPSS is urging families to take action this summer to ensure their students continue to receive a free or reduced lunch when school resumes in August. Schools have been able to offer breakfast and lunch at no charge to students during the last two school years. This was made possible thanks to the generous support of the U.S. Department of Agriculture during the pandemic reimbursing schools for meals served to students, regardless of their income.
At this time, there is no plan for that support to continue into the next school year. For the school year 2022-2023, Savannah Chatham County Public Schools will continue to serve free breakfast for all students, but is urging all families to complete and submit a Free and Reduced Meal Application starting July 1, 2022, if you believe your student(s) may be eligible. The application can also be completed online using the link myschoolapps.com that will be live on July 1, 2022. We will provide a reminder at that time and throughout the month of July, leading up to the start of the new school year.
